I needed some images for my website to showcase my new collection and decided to create some ghost mannequin pictures. I’ll walk you through my experience testing these powerful AI tools. They are The New Black AI, Photo Room, and SellerPic AI. I put each to the test using both a dress on a live model and a denim jacket on a simple hanger to see which one delivers the most professional results for a clothing brand.

How They Work
1. The New Black AI – This tool is built specifically for fashion designers. I found the process very intuitive:
- The Workflow: I navigated to the “Image to Image” section and used the “AI Helper” to select the “Create Ghost Mannequin Clothes” flow
- Customization: It asks whether your garment is flat or on a model . For the dress, I selected “on model,” and for the jacket on a hanger, I selected “flat”.
- Key Feature: There is a box for “additional information” where you can specify fabric textures or unique details .
2. Photo Room – Photo Room is known for its speed and vast template library.
- The Workflow: Under “AI Tools,” I simply clicked on the “Ghost Mannequin” template.
- Speed: It felt slightly faster than The New Black AI.
- Variety: One thing I loved was that it automatically generated multiple versions—for example, one version of the dress with the model’s original bag and one without.
3. SellerPic AI – This tool is excellent if you already have an established e-commerce presence.
- The Workflow: Similar to the others, I selected the “Ghost Mannequin” template.
- Integration: A standout feature here is the ability to upload images directly from your Shopify store.
- Render Models: It offers different “render models” (like “Nano Banana”) that change the final look and lighting of the garment.
The Results: How They Compare
The Dress Test
When comparing the final dress images, all three tools performed exceptionally well, but there were subtle differences:
- The New Black AI: Delivered the most realistic look with more “shine” and visible fabric texture.
- Photo Room: Provided a very clean, professional result on a standard white background.
- SellerPic AI: Added an “extra oomph” with more dramatic lighting and shadows, giving it a high-end editorial feel.

The Jacket Test (The “Flaw” Test)
The denim jacket was a harder challenge because it had unique, slanted pocket flaps. This is where I noticed the limitations of AI:
- The New Black AI & Photo Room: Both struggled with the unique pocket shape, defaulting to a more “standard” denim jacket look.
- SellerPic AI: This was the closest to the original. It managed to slant the pockets and add the curvy ends, though it still wasn’t a 100% perfect match. It seemed like all the tools were providing results based on generic designs so they struggled a bit.

My Final Verdict
If you want realism and texture, go with The New Black AI. If you need speed and variety, Photo Room is your best bet. However, if you have unique garment details or want dramatic lighting, SellerPic AI edges out the competition. My big tip: for clothes with very specific features, always use the “additional information” or prompt boxes to tell the AI exactly what to look for! Did you find this article helpful.
